Gastroscopy

70% of performance horses

Research has shown that up to 70% of horses have some degree of gastric, or foregut (stomach or small intestinal), ulceration. In the horse the signs of gastric ulceration can manifest in any number of ways:

  • Increased Irritability
  • Poor Performance
  • Back Soreness
  • Girthiness
  • Lameness
  • Rehorseitive Colic Episodes
  • Weight Loss

With recent advancements in imaging, we are able to diagnose gastric ulcers in the field with 3-meter video endoscopes. This diagnosis is quick and minimally invasive and with initiation of treatment, will get your horse rapidly on its way back to normal behavior and performance.
